“What do I do before my boudoir photoshoot?” is one of the most asked questions. And, as basic as the inquiry may appear, it usually elicits a great deal of concern. You’re frightened, worried about forgetting anything, or this is such a big deal for you that “turning up” can’t possibly be the answer… Don’t worry, we will walk you through it and you’ll feel so prepared that you won’t believe it.

I would admit, though, that when I say “all you have to do is show up,” I truly mean it. Set a date for your boudoir photoshoot at my studio, tell yourself you’re going to do it, and then do it. After that, you won’t be able to back out, so be proud of how far you’ve come! All I require of you is your presence.

However, there are a few things I recommend that can help you feel your best and make our job easier before your boudoir photoshoot, and they are mentioned below!

1. Plan your wardrobe

Start planning out your wardrobe at least two weeks before your session. Think about the look you want to achieve and plan your outfits accordingly. Choose items that make you feel confident and comfortable, and consider bringing a variety of options in different styles and colors. Its ok if you bring extra outfits. When in doubt bring it.

2. Asses your skin tan

It’s crucial to even it out so that any hard lines or radically differing skin hues can be blended. If you decide to spray tan, you should be completely confident in your decision and should probably do a test run beforehand. If you do it for the first time the day before and arrive looking like an umpa lumpa, we hope your boudoir photoshoot theme is chocolate. I will be completely honest don’t spray tan at all. If you are concern with looking too pale it is easier to color correct the lighting than your skin.

3. Rest and Hydrate

Drinking enough water can make a significant difference in the appearance of your skin before you leave for your boudoir photoshoot. Make sure you hydrate throughout the week and at night, especially your lips and hands! I know you are excited and nervous but make sure you get plenty of rest and sleep. If waking up in the morning will have you anxious then schedule your session in the after. You do not want to be tired during your session.

4. Leave the blemishes

I can easily get rid of a pimple, but I can’t do it when my skin is red, inflamed, and swollen. Don’t worry about any last-minute surprises; the bulk of them will be taken care of by cosmetics, and the remainder will be taken care of by me. Acne on the breasts or back is included in this category. Consider getting a facial or doing an at-home skincare routine to help your skin look and feel its best. Do this five days prior to your session. Avoid trying any new products or treatments right before your shoot, as they could cause irritation or other unexpected results.

5. Stay Energized

Wake up with a smile on your face, a cup of tea in your hand, and a cheerful start to your day. Stand in the superwoman posture while meditating. Play your jam in the car on your way to see me and sing your little heart out on the day of your boudoir photoshoot! Positive vibes!!!

Don’t forget to review your prep guide

Boudoir photography can be a vulnerable and intimate experience, but it’s important to trust your photographer and allow yourself to be in the moment. Take a few deep breaths, let go of any insecurities, and remember that you are beautiful just as you are.
